Once a year, a high school students who has represented North Central Public Power District at the Nebraska Rural Electric Association Youth Energy Camp has the opportunity to compete to be selected by North Central PPD’s Board of Directors to represent North Central PPD on the Washington Youth Tour. This top-notch leadership experience and tour of our nation's capitol includes meetings with state and national leaders and leadership training, as well as visits to all the major sights. Participants join over 1,500 other students from around the nation for one incredible week in our nation's capital – a once in a life-time opportunity.
Kyle Brozek the son of Dan and Denise Brozek of rural Brunswick, NE represented North Central PPD at the 2009 Washington D.C. Youth Tour. Kyle said, “he had the experience of a lifetime working with peers from other states and NRECA staff during the Washington stay. Haley Zimmerer, daughter of Curt and Sherri Zimmerer of Verdigre has been selected to attend the 2010 Washington D.C. Youth Tour. Haley attended the 2009 NREA Youth Energy Camp which made her eligible to compete for the opportunity to be selected to represent North Central PPD at the 2010 Youth Tour.
Haley is a senior at Creighton Public School and is active in Speech, Drama, and Music. Haley will also be returning as a junior counselor at the 2010 NREA Youth Energy Camp.
